National Security Policy (NSP) for Jamaica
A New Approach: National Security Policy for Jamaica (NSP) was laid in Parliament as Ministry Paper #63 by Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller on April 29, 2014. The NSP was laid in the Senate on May 2, 2014.
The policy identifies six key actions to be adopted across all areas of the society that impact on a safe and secure environment. The monitoring of the implementation of the policy across the public sector is done by the Office of the National Security Advisor of the Cabinet Office.
In order to develop a stronger partnership between citizens, civil society and all government organisations involved in delivering security services, it is important for all members of the public to understand the critical role that they are required to play in helping to make Jamaica a more safe and secure place to live and visit.
