A few examples of transformation in service delivery in the Jamaican public sector including examples of how transaction times and costs are being reduced:  

  • A New Approach: National Security Policy for Jamaica (NSP) was laid in Parliament as Ministry Paper #63 on April 29, 2014 and in the Senate on May 2, 2014.

    It sets out six major actions as key priorities:

    1. Establish a permanent framework for inter-ministerial cooperation.

    These are the action points from the National Security Policy to strengthen systems of governance:

    1. Move the focus away from reactive and containment strategies to concentrate on dismantling criminal organisations, including their facilitators.
    2. Seize the proceeds of crime.
    3. Strengthen anti-corruption measures.
    4. Increase transparence in the public accounts, especially with regard to procurement.
    5. Reform the justice system.
    6. Improve intelligence-sharing with key strategic partners.
    7. Encourage the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Judiciary to vigourously pursue the most serious cases of high-level corruption and illegal enrichment.
