The Public Sector Modernisation Division (PSMD), within the Office of the Cabinet was established to drive the modernisation of the Public Sector by providing a coordinated approach to the planning and implementation of reforms, setting priorities, and the managing of ‘cross-cutting’ issues and ‘joined-up government’ initiatives.

The Public Sector Modernisation Division (PSMD) is governed by the mandate to:

  • Improve the quality, coherence and responsiveness of the services rendered to the public
  • Promote a strong and professionally managed public sector, capable of enabling and facilitating the achievement of the major national goals
  • Re-organize the public sector to support a more citizen-centred and performance-focused approach to carrying out the business of government
