The Office of the National Security Advisor (ONSA) aims to strengthen coordination, monitoring, and governance mechanisms in support of a safe and secure Jamaica.  

The ONSA is mandated to: 

  1. Advise the Prime Minister and the National Security Council on security related matters;
  2. Manage the administration of the National Security Council and the Citizen Security Business Group;
  3. Provide strategic leadership on key national security imperatives;
  4. Integrate policy – align national security efforts across all relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies;
  5. Provide coordination across the country’s security operations with domestic stakeholders;
  6. Act as a facilitator between the Government and local, regional and international partners;
  7. Research and analyse existing and emergent security trends for decision-making; and
  8. Formulate, review, update and monitor implementation of the National Security Policy and other critical security policy initiatives.
